Teachable

I have some friends who believe what I believe; I have some friends who believe other things, things that I don't agree with. Sometimes this results in awkward discussion, loud debating, and overall dissension.

Ususally this happens when a topic appears out of nowhere. We have no time to prepare ourselves to defend our views calmly and graciously, so we usually don't stay calm and gracious. It can get ugly.

But other times, we all make a decision: Let's talk about this- this thing we disagree on. Let's be calm and quiet. Let's not interrupt each other. Let's take turns expressing our beliefs. Let's be teachable.

Teachable people are humble people. They are gracious, and even if they feel strongly about their opinions, they realize and admit that they could be wrong.

When you have discussions with teachable people- when you are a teachable person- everything goes much more smoothly, don't you think?

Let's be humble and meek. Let's not insist on our own way. Let's prefer others, even when we don't agree with them.

Let's always be teachable.
